THE SPECIAL WOOL CARE GUIDE

This year, knitwear is making a big comeback at Nénés!

Carefully and lovingly made in Italy from wool (partially recycled), alpaca, and recycled polyamide, this collection was created to last.

To keep it in perfect condition for as long as possible, we've put together a care guide.

1. Limit washing

First of all, it is important to keep in mind that wool is a delicate fiber. Washing it too often will damage it.

Our first advice is therefore to limit washing to only a few times a year.

Good news: being a hollow fiber, wool naturally wicks away moisture and odors, so you can air it out after each wear outside and out of direct sunlight.

To eliminate odors, you can:

  • spray it lightly with a mixture of water and white vinegar
  • or place it in your bathroom while you take a hot shower. The steam helps relax the fibers and eliminate odors. A clothes steamer will also work perfectly!

2. Prefer hand washing

The best method for washing a wool sweater is to do it by hand :

  • Fill a basin with cold or lukewarm water, but never hot.
  • Use a special wool or delicate fiber detergent .
  • Gently immerse the sweater and let it soak for 5 to 10 minutes without rubbing or twisting the material.
  • Rinse in cold water, without wringing out so as not to deform the fibers.

If you choose to machine wash, select the wool program in cold water , without spinning.

3. Ensure drying

To maintain the shape of your sweater, be careful how you dry your sweater.

  • Blot out excess water by gently wrapping the sweater in a clean towel .
  • Lay it flat on a dry towel, away from direct sunlight and sources of excessive heat.
  • Never hang it on a hanger or on a wire, the wool could relax under the weight of the water.

4. Simple actions to fight stains

If stained, act immediately, but always gently.
To protect the fibers: do not rub, but blot.

Here are our detailed recommendations:

  • Grease stains: sprinkle Terre de Sommières on your dry knitwear and let it work.
  • Common stains: apply a mixture of water and mild wool detergent.
  • Coffee, tea, fruit: rinse with cold water, then blot with a diluted detergent.

Simple and careful actions to keep your pieces beautiful longer.

And for more maintenance...

If you need to iron your knitwear, iron it inside out, at a low temperature, using a thin cloth in between or using gentle steam. Avoid excessive pressure to prevent marking the fibers.

Before storing your knitwear, make sure it is completely dry. Fold it flat, away from heat and sunlight, or hang it on a rounded hanger to maintain its shape.

To minimize pilling, wash your items inside out and avoid friction. As wool is a natural fiber, pilling is inevitable, but don't hesitate to gently remove them with a soft brush or a special wool shaver.

We hope you find these tips for caring for your sweaters helpful.

Taking care of them is not only a gesture to extend their lifespan, but also a way to consume more responsibly . Careful maintenance will allow your favorites to remain soft, fluffy and ready to be worn year after year !
