Rules: Which clean protection to choose?

Sanitary protection, a subject that seems so simple but is actually very complex. Don't panic, today we present to you a special hygienic protection guide to help you choose the clean protection you need!

Disposable Protections: What are the disadvantages?

hazardous materials

Let's start with a brief review of the situation of sanitary protection. First of all, it is necessary to remember that all hygienic protections are not without risk. Indeed, the products used in many tampons and sanitary napkins are proving to be very harmful to our health. A large part of the materials used for these protections are made of synthetic materials and/or plastic derived from petroleum. You will therefore understand naturally that these substances give off toxic residues which are in contact with our intimate hygiene. These are not without danger since they are considered carcinogenic, endocrine disruptors or toxic for fertility.

A scourge for the planet

In addition to being bad for our health, disposable sanitary protection is a scourge for our planet. With nearly 10,000 tampons thrown away in a lifetime by just one woman, the amount of waste produced is considerable. The use of this product is short and its recycling impossible.

A financial cost

Finally, you are aware that sanitary protection is expensive. Indeed, a woman will spend in her life between 1500€ and 2000€ of disposable sanitary protections. This cost can be reduced if you opt for reusable protections!

Disposable protections therefore represent many constraints. But how to avoid all this? Fortunately, today there are several means of substitution. We give you a hint right here 👇🏽

The solutions !

There are indeed many reusable protections, for all tastes and flows.

1. Period panties

At Nénés, we opted for menstrual panties. Indeed, we believe that period days should not rhyme with depressing lingerie! We therefore offer menstrual panties that are absorbent, hygienic and discreet, but as pretty as the other panties in the range and match the bras in the collection.

Menstrual panties can be adapted to light, medium and heavy flows. In our case, we offer several models for light and medium flows. Our menstrual panties are all made from recycled fibers (except Flora which is made from organic cotton). The gusset part (in contact with the skin) is, like all Nénés panties, in organic cotton . The membranes (protective layers contained under the gusset) are made of bamboo to guarantee total safety.

Plus, period panties are versatile ! They can indeed be worn during your period, but are also perfect for periods of urinary leakage or return to diaper. A menstrual panty alone brings together nearly 3 different uses.

We advise you to wash your panties every 8 to 12 hours. We recommend a gentle wash at 30°C after rubbing your panties for a few moments in lukewarm water to remove as much material as possible! Finally, let them air dry.

For medium flows:

Our medium flow period panties absorb the equivalent of 3 sanitary napkins or 3 tampons.

Margot and Juliette, the mats

The Margot period panties are high-waisted microfiber panties that are perfectly compatible with our bra of the same name! Its material is ultra-soft to be forgotten under your clothes. Its scalloped lace edges cut out against the skin, for a little feminine side that we love. Margot is only available in pomegranate color.

Juliette , she takes the shape of the Margot model, but her lace is different. It exists in black only, a safe bet to match all your black bras.

Iris the feminine

Our Iris menstrual panties go well with our bra Iris available in grenadine And black . Its sides are in lace to lighten the silhouette and create a subtle play of transparency. A little extra: on the back of the panties, a drop-shaped opening adds a touch of femininity and sensuality.

Flora the basic

Last model is not the least: our Flora , super comfortable in organic cotton, available in black and cinnamon . A basic cut for our customers looking for simplicity.

For small flows: Dahlia, the indented

Finally, our last rule panty pattern is the Dahlia . Much cuter than our previous models, it hardly looks like menstrual panties! She sculpts a dream silhouette. Being very indented, Dahlia is more suitable for small flows and keeps like the others between 8h and 12h per day. It is available in black and cinnamon .

2. Reusable pads

On the reusable hygienic protection side, there are also washable towels. Probably the first to have entered the world of reusable sanitary protection, the reusable towel is a practical basic suitable for everyone. It is used exactly like a classic towel. A towel can be kept between 5 a.m. and 12 p.m. It depends on the brand and of course on your flow, it will not upset your habits very much. It will keep for about 5 years! That's eco!

3. The Cup

Now let's move on to the great innovation of reusable sanitary protection: The Cup. But what is a cup? It is therefore a washable protection for internal use which will act as a small container for your menstrual losses. Very flexible, this small cup easily adapts to the shape of your vagina for optimum protection. A cup can be kept for up to 12 hours (it also depends on your flow), so you have nothing to worry about during the day!

After these 12 hours, gently remove the cup then rinse it directly with hot water. You can use a mild soap from time to time, but don't forget to sterilize it at the start of each cycle by immersing it in boiling water.

You now have all the information you need to choose your clean hygienic protection! We obviously advise you to test our menstrual panties and for this we have concocted a special offer for you: for two menstrual panties purchased, the third is at -50%! So go for it, you won't regret it.
