Rules: which clean protection to choose?

Hygienic protection, a subject that seems so simple but is actually very complex. Don't panic, today we present to you a special hygienic protection guide to help you choose the clean protection you need!

Disposable protections: what are the disadvantages?

1. Hazardous materials

Let's start with a short observation of the situation of hygienic protection. Not all hygienic protection is risk-free.

Indeed, the products used in many tampons and sanitary napkins turn out to be very harmful to our health. A large part of the materials used for these protections are synthetic materials and/or plastics derived from petroleum. You will therefore naturally understand that these substances release toxic residues which are even in contact with our intimate hygiene. These are not without danger since they are considered carcinogenic, endocrine disruptors or toxic to fertility.

2. A scourge for the planet

In addition to being bad for our health, disposable sanitary protection represents a scourge for our planet. With nearly 10,000 tampons thrown away in a single woman's lifetime, the amount of waste produced is considerable. The use of this product is short and its recycling impossible.

3. A financial cost

Finally, you are aware that sanitary protection is expensive. In fact, a woman will spend between €1,500 and €2,000 on disposable sanitary protection in her lifetime. This cost can be reduced if you opt for reusable protections!

Disposable protections therefore represent numerous constraints. But then how can we avoid all this? Fortunately, today there are several alternatives. We'll give you a clue right here 👉🏼

The solutions !

There are indeed many reusable protections, for all tastes and flows.

1. Period panties

At Nénés, we opted for menstrual panties. Indeed, we think that menstruation days should not rhyme with depressing lingerie! We therefore offer you menstrual panties that are absorbent, hygienic and discreet but are as pretty as the other panties in the range and match the bras in the collection.

Our period panties are suitable for light, medium and heavy flows and are all made from recycled fibers . The gusset part (in contact with the skin) is, like all Nénés panties, made of organic cotton . The membranes (protective layers contained under the gusset) are made of bamboo to guarantee total safety.

Also, period panties are versatile ! They can in fact be worn during your period, but are also perfect for periods of urinary leakage or returning from diapers. Menstrual panties alone have almost 3 different uses.

We advise you to wash your panties every 8 to 12 hours. We recommend gentle washing at 30°C after rubbing your panties for a few moments with lukewarm water to remove as much material as possible! Finally, air dry them.

Between Hyacinthe the indented, Charlie the most absorbent and Rosalie the feminine: you will be spoiled for choice! And what's more, for 2 menstrual panties purchased, the third one is 50% off.

2. Reusable towels

As for reusable hygienic protection, there are also washable towels .

Probably the first to have entered the world of reusable sanitary protection, the reusable napkin is a practical basic suitable for everyone.

It is used exactly like a classic towel. A towel can be kept between 5 a.m. and 12 p.m. It depends on the brand and of course your feed, it will only change your habits very little. It can be stored for around 5 years and that's eco-friendly!

3. The cup

Let's now move on to an innovation: The Cup .

It is a washable protection for internal use which will act as a small container for your menstrual losses. Very flexible, this small cup easily adapts to the shape of your vagina for optimum protection. A cup can be kept for up to 12 hours (this also depends on your flow), so you have nothing to worry about during the day!

After these 12 hours, carefully remove the cup then rinse it directly with hot water. You can use a mild soap from time to time, but above all, don't forget to sterilize it at the start of each cycle by immersing it in boiling water.

You now have all the information you need to choose your clean hygienic protection! We obviously advise you to test our period panties with our special offer: 2 panties purchased, the third at -50%!
