Meet @marlenerougier
This winter, Manon, founder of the upcycling brand Marlène Rougier, joins forces with Nénés for a collection that warms the heart.
Crafted hand in hand, this collaboration blends the unique worlds of both brands to create distinctive, colorful, comfortable, and durable pieces.
Meet Manon and explore the behind-the-scenes of this co-creation in this interview.
Hello Manon, can you introduce yourself please?
My name is Manon, I'm 28 years old, and I've been working on my upcycling brand for five years now.
You can also find me on Instagram under the handle @marlenerougier where I share my outfits as well as all the pieces from my brand.
Your style in a few words?
Comfortable yet stylish: I love loose, oversized cuts that allow me to work with ease, while pairing them with more sophisticated touches like jewelry or styled hair. I’m a big fan of accessorizing.
How did you get started on Instagram?
I've always been drawn to content creation: making videos, taking photos, and curating beautiful visuals. In that sense, being on Instagram feels like a natural evolution of this passion for creativity.
Initially, on my professional account, I only posted pieces from my drops. But gradually, inspired by other influencers, I started sharing outfits, moods, and more. It happened organically, and I think it will keep evolving in the same way. :)
Where does your passion for fashion come from?
I wouldn't say I'm a fashion enthusiast: I love clothing, beautiful pieces, and the world of textiles in general, but I'm not someone who closely follows trends. I really just go with the flow, following my instincts and what feels right at the time.
Tell us about your story with Nénés
I've always loved Nénés pieces. They’ve gifted me several models that I continue to wear. I think it’s one of the brands that best highlights the body with its cuts and fabrics.
The project came about naturally during a conversation. Our worlds align perfectly, so the adventure began!
Why did you choose to co-create a collection with Nénés?
I think we share a similar idea and vision of what fashion can be, both in terms of style and overall approach: our values, how we communicate, and how we connect with our communities.
Our ways of doing things complement each other, so the connection felt very natural.
How did you design the collection?
We had a few ideas in mind for pieces we wanted to develop but hadn’t yet explored. The Nénés team allowed us to challenge ourselves and try new things, new models, with fabrics and materials we weren’t familiar with.
We drew a lot, projected what we wanted to do in correlation with the available fabrics and our respective desires. I’m really proud of this collection because it truly blends our inspirations and essences.
I recognize myself, as well as Nénés, in the pieces we’re offering: comfortable, enjoyable, high-quality, and timeless pieces.
What is your favorite piece and why?
The striped sweater is absolutely amazing because it’s a piece I love to wear (especially when the days get cooler), so having the opportunity to create one... I was super excited!
But I’d say I really fell in love with the scrunchies: I just think they’re perfect. I’ve often tried making them, and these ones meet, in my opinion, all the criteria for the ideal scrunchie: a wide size but not too big, just enough to show off, and vibrant, lively colors. It’s a perfect match. I can imagine them with many different styles, they're a must-have accessory!
What makes this collection sustainable?
The choice of materials as well as the quality of design . By offering timeless pieces, we can focus on their durability, both aesthetic and "functionally".
I believe we've stayed true to this commitment, and to me, this makes the co-creation even more successful.
The collection is available online in limited quantities. We can't wait to see how you embrace it!
